Response to "Blogging and the Law" (Assignment #1)
One of the newest Internet fads and crazes that people are interacting with is blogging technology. Groups of all kinds--educational, personal, political, and professional--are using blogs to share their information and thoughts. Although bloggers have several First Amendment freedoms when blogging, logical thinking should be used when doing so. For example, blogging should not be a place to air dirty laundry, especially in the employment arena. In fact, the Electronic Frontier Federation (EFF) has compiled a "Legal Guide for Bloggers" that is accessible for its users on its very own web site in order to help people protect and defend their freedom of speech rights. The bottom line is this--blogging can be extremely educational, beneficial, and enjoyable, but caution and concern should always be considered in order to protect yourself.
